Women’s Congregation in Sajókaza

The members of the „Dana Mudra” Congregation participated in a public audience initiated by the local government on 1 December 2008.
It was the first time the women of the “Sólyom” Gypsy settlement had represented their interests in an organized way. In that occasion the mayor of the village declared that he and the local government were going to cooperate with us for the reconstruction of the road in mud at “Sólyom telep”.
The Congregation also elected its own leaders. The work of Rusznyák Gusztávné Váradi Éva will be assisted by Rácz János and Lakatos Gábor.
On the “International Human Rights Day” president Éva visited the European Roma Rights Centre and had a talk with Larry Olomoofe. Mr. Olomoofe promised us to provide an advocat.
She had a meeting with Vecsei Miklós , deputy viceprsident of Hungarian Maltese Charity Service. Mr. Vecsei gave us an important advice: poor families have the right to elecricity meter with a chip card. It helps them to avoid debt trap.
She went to the happy dance party of Chance For Children Foundation (CFCF) in order to celebrate the historic sentence of Hungarian Supreme Court on the ceasing of the school segregation in Hajdúhadház.
She also met there Dr. Felcsuti Péter, General Manager of Raiffeisen Bank and Chairman of Hungarian Banking Association.
She applaused to the speech of Mr. Korózs Lajos state secretary of Social and Labour Ministry.
Other events:
On 13 December we welcomed the delegation of the Quaker Congregation. They made a fund raising of charity in value of 1000 euros for the road reconstruction at the Gypsy settlement in Virág Street. Linda, Mike and Zsuzsa taught u show to contemplate in silence.
The students of the Káldor Student Hostel in Budapest sent presents to those families who they had a camp with in their holiday homes last summer.
We received twice Swati Kamble (Maharashtra, India), Amrita Sharma (Bihar, India) and Luisa Steur (Holland) from Central European University (CEU). They taught us „Uthe sab ke qadam” song.
Students and teachers of Alfa College from Groningen (Holland) gave us a huge amount of clothes and toys. They participated at christmas party of our congregation.
